In the present study the response of the fiber optic evanescent field absorption sensor has been analyzed experimentally. The dependence of evanescent absorbance on sample (dye) concentration has been found to be nonlinear, in contradiction to theoretical predictions. The amount of nonlinearity as well as evanescent absorbance has been found to depend on the pH of the sample. As the pH decreases, the amount of nonlinearity and evanescent absorbance decrease. It has been shown that the nonlinearity and high evanescent absorbance at high pH value occur because of the adsorption of the positively charged dye molecules on the surface of the silica core of the plastic-clad silica (PCS) fiber, which is generally used for the sensor. A linear response has been obtained at pH close to 2.0, at which the presence of a tremendous amount of H ions in the sample restricts the adsorption of the dye molecules. The following empirical relation has been found to fit the experimental data: gamma 1.1C 1.6(pH)32C 1 3, where gamma is the evanescent absorption coefficient and C is the concentration of the dye. The first term is due to the simple Beer's law while the second term is the contribution of the pH dependent dye adsorption. The hyperfine structure of iodine-127 at 612 nm and 640 nm is observed by saturated absorption in a gas cell placed within a He-Ne laser cavity modified to operate at these wavelengths. At 612 nm, all the 21 components of the strong R 47 9-2 line lie within the laser gain profile, and the resulting saturated absorption peaks have a contrast of 10% at a gas pressure of 3 Pa. 相似文献

Ground-based solar absorption infrared spectra were recorded in the Canadian Arctic during the early spring of 2004 using a moderate-resolution Fourier transform spectrometer, the Portable Atmospheric Research Interferometric Spectrometer for the Infrared (PARIS-IR). As part of the Canadian Arctic Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) validation campaign, the PARIS-IR instrument recorded solar absorption spectra of the atmosphere from February to March 2004 as the Sun returned to the Arctic Stratospheric Ozone Observatory (AStrO) near Eureka, Nunavut, Canada (80.05°N, 86.42°W). In this paper, we briefly outline the PARIS-IR instrument configuration and data acquisition in the high Arctic. We discuss the retrieval methodology, characterization and error analysis associated with total and partial column retrievals. We compare the PARIS-IR measurements of N2O and O3 column amounts with those from the Fourier transform spectrometer (ACE-FTS) onboard the Canadian SCISAT-1 satellite and the ozonesonde data obtained at Eureka during the validation campaign. 相似文献

We conduct a simple principal-agent experiment in order to find the effects of information asymmetry on compensation. Our aim is the analysis of the appropriate compensation and its impact on employee’s effort. Furthermore we want to compare the offered compensation and the supplied effort in the version without communication and we want to know whether the experimental observations are consistent with the theoretical considerations.The experimenters found out that compensations observed during the experiment were different from those suggested by the theory and although they were theoretically not enough to induce high effort, we could observe high performance supplied by the agents. 相似文献
